The weekend

Once again I succumbed to the yarn demon. It was innocent enough,I had to go to the yarn store to get some needles,I knew what size I wanted and everything and all I had to do was walk in ask for then and walk out ,But no I couldn't do that. Maybe if the yarn store personnel would have been a little less friendly I would have been less likely to buy something other than what I came in for,But it wasn't to be. While they were chatting with another woman this yarn called to me from the shelves,Colinette Jitterbug,The colorway was Mardi grais. I had been wanting to try some and since this sinful yarn called out to my weak side,it and my needles went home with me. When I got home I checked out the yardage on the yarn and of course Ms Bigfoot saw that the yardage wasnt actually to my advantage so,Toe-up socks have become a priority to learn how to do.

The yarn has been talking to me all weekend. I have been trying to be good and finish the baby projects that I started before the children can drive(I don't know if they have been born yet) but I need motivation.


I have both sweaters finished and 2 of 4 socks finished. the needles made a major difference in my baby sock making. I want to make 2 little hats. the start on some more baby outfits,But I'm going through sock withdrawls,I cast on a sock in socks that rock ,I don't know the colorway but its kind of autumny.

Back to the toe-up sock making,since I have never made a pair of toe ups I feel this is my new challenge. I tried Judy's magic cast on with double points and it was ok but not impressive enough to have my Jitterbug with that toe. I want to use every yarn of it. So I broke down and pulled out my addis,Not only did I do the toe,I did it magic loop. What a difference a year makes. So tomorrow back to the baby socks and hopefully start a hat, and more practice with my toe. lol

Tuesday Matinee

Not that I took off to see one,I became the matinee at the laundrymat(I know thats old school but thats what I call it). I went after work because I was too lazy sunday to go and dry my clothes,so Tuesday it was. I get there put my clothes in the dryer,get out my Ipod,my reading glasses and knitting. I plug up and start going into my zone when I see this woman out of the corner of my eye seeing what I was doing ,of course i just figured she would look and go moseying on her merry way like most folks do ,maybe even ask a question,but no,she sits down right across from me and starts looking,staring is a better word,maybe even entranced. She asked was I making a coat(sweater i'm sure is what she meant),I said yes and back to starting she went. She got up for a minute and came back with chips to eat while she stared. Another woman came over and said something in Spanish that I couldn't understand ,she walked away and a child came up that wasnt really impressed until she saw my nails and then she started to stare too. They both walked away and then an young boy came and sat down with a bag of fritos and you know the rest. lol

I think my nails are getting long now because just today I had two people say something,I was driving down the street on my route and some delivery men had the street blocked up but as I was manuvering my way around his truck he yelled "Nice Nails" I gave him a quick thank you and kept rolling. I was coming out of the store and this woman stopped me and had to see,She went into her story about how she wanted to grow her nails with no sucess and gave me a good day and went on about her merry way.

Well I guess I'll post gratuitous nail pictures until I get some of my knitting finished,I'm working on sweater 2 for Coach Jacksons girls. I'm sure they will be here soon if they aren't already here. And a pair of socks for me.

Pressure knitting

Why do I feel that every woman in the Western hemisphere is having a baby and I have to knit something for them? Of course there are a couple of folks I feel I most definitely have to ,but others I don't but feel I do. My nails tech and his wife are having a baby and its a boy so of course thats on the list. My nephews former football coach and and adopted family member,His wife is having twin girls.and numerous parents of my students and TA's wives are having babies. I'm burning the midnight oil trying to do all of this knitting but,its fun none the less. I have one layette finished and some in my already knitted bag..so its the twins that are up now. I need to take pictures of the sweater,different pattern than the 5 hour pattern.But still top down. Its late and I guess I'll put a random finished something picture or 2 up. The skirt is my neices so cute!

Vegas baby

I was in Vegas last weekend for the nail and hair show and to meet some of the hardcore nail appreciatitors from all over the world. It was GREAT to say the least. I have never met are more loving ,caring bunch of people,no attitudes just fun folks. My nieces came down from Oregon to spend a few days and had a blast. Their mother came from LA and she was ok,she took them to dinner and breakfast so it was all good. They are making plans for the next time. I wasn't able to take many pictures because I was in so many shots lol. But here are a few of me and the ladies.
